The brief

Brawlers Tavern moves between a social medieval tavern, competitive arena combat and quick, sports-inspired minigames. The score needed two things that can pull in different directions: a warm, identifiable world and music that can escalate with player activity.

What I delivered

Three original compositions, presented as four SoundCloud tracks because the soccer music is split into its A and B loop states. Each composition was developed with potential adaptive playback in mind:

The palette draws on Irish and medieval folk influences, using modal melodies and acoustic colours alongside modern percussion and synth textures.

Adaptive music design

Rather than treating the three tracks solely as fixed files, I mapped how the music could respond to game events. The logic uses phrase-aligned musical transitions, layers, stingers and state changes.

Soccer: normal and high-stakes states

The proposed flow starts in a normal-match loop and transitions at musical boundaries to a more intense section when the game enters a last-minute or high-pressure state. Short stingers can mark goals or goalkeeper actions without interrupting the main beat.

Tavern: evolving background layers

The tavern arrangement can move between low-, medium- and high-density combinations over long cycles, with occasional features to reduce repetition while preserving a relaxed social atmosphere.
